The Peeps Quest led me a lot of places I don't usually go. One of those places was JoAnn fabrics. It's not that I don't like JoAnn fabrics or that I haven't shopped there before, it's just that for some reason the clerks at the store have a history of being exceptionally rude to me. Apparently coming in to the establishment wearing bondage pants and a t-shirt from Jinx then buying 4 yards of purple bridal satin upsets the workers. At least their ignoring me came in handy while I was sneeking about and taking photos in their store. I went up and down their Easter section, and practically behind the counter was the display of Peeps craft kits. They have bookmarks, locker mirrors, foam stickers, key chains, jewelry, and frames. The display was completely full, and I had the masterful task of deciding which pieces should be dismantled from it first.
I picked up the mini frames kit for myself and the bookmark kit to auction off on eBay later. I only had the funds for one, but as the cashier rang me out she informed me the total was $3.18. I cocked my eye at her in disbelief, then pointed to the sign and went, "But, it says $4.99." When she informed me they were on sale I clicked my heels and grabbed another one while she rolled her eyes at me as though I was in some way offending her.
All the kits are made with foamie paper cut in the shapes of Peeps and Bunnies. The cool thing is they have Easter grass on the inside instead of a huge labyrinth of clear plastic and twist ties as you often find into toy packages. Thank goodness they cautioned against eating this product. I was thinking the tube of white goo was concentrated marshmallow for reviving the Peeps to their original gooey state. This is either one great coincidence or a hell of a marketing ploy. I was putting my Peeps frame together and sprinkling my sparkles pondering what I might place inside. At first I was thinking of a cute photo of an actual Peep, perhaps a shot from the ever popular Lord of the Peeps. Then I thought of the perfect thing which I had just managed to print out earlier that day.
Yes, the Peeps Fan Club membership card is the EXACT size of the Peeps foam frames. I slapped one of the magnets on the back and this puppy is getting added to the magnets at my desk at work, right between Spongebob and a replica Mickey Mouse ice cream bar. The girls in my department are going to be so amazingly jealous. I mean -- just look how shiny it is! -Mystie |
